Most of these come straight from the rules above, but they’re easy to miss when you’re uploading documents on your phone at 10 p.m.
Doubling up on a document type is the easiest one to overlook. Two utility bills count as one type, and so do a mortgage statement and a lease. Mixing guardians is another, like pairing a lease in one parent’s name with the other parent’s driver’s license.
Watch the dates, too. The two-month window counts back from the day you submit, not the day you started the application, so if you began a few weeks ago, look at your bills again before you send everything in.
Read every name and address closely. Your documents need to match the full name and physical street address on the application, so look out for nicknames, missing middle names, old addresses, and mailing addresses that differ from where you live.
For uploads, remove the password from any locked PDF and trim large scans down to the pages Step Up needs. And if you’re applying for income priority, remember that every adult 18 and older in the household needs income documentation, not only the parents.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
